Wow! This is soberingly brilliant thought with an amazingly refreshing picture. Reminds me of that poem by Francis Frangipane–what’s it called?
. . . a mountain tree, if it will see, the far horizons and the stars
must never know a sheltered place
or grow symmetrical in grace
something, something, something,
and bear the scars.
So much to chew on in this little morsel–I love it.

I especially like and appreciate that you were reminded of something from your faith tradition and I was writing it from mine, with transcendentalism at the forefront of my mind, which is quite different. It is why I always say that the world would be healed if we all just sat down and read poetry together – we would find that our deepest heart strings vibrate to ancient commonalities…
